Ariel Motor Company chooses Dunlop for the new ACE

Dunlop tyres will be fitted to the highly anticipated Ariel Ace. The all new motorcycle, which will be the first model to bear the Ariel name in 50 years, will sit alongside the two-seater Atom lightweight sports car.

The bike uses a Honda VFR1200 engine and swingarm as a platform, with Ariel’s own frame and running gear. Newly confirmed is the support of tyre brand Dunlop who are in the initial stages of testing its industry leading range on all models of the new bike.

The launch of the Ariel Ace will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 26th – 27th June where the manufacturer will display to the public as well as take part in the iconic Hillclimb.

The relationship between Ariel and Dunlop dates back to 1895. Following Ariel’s invention of the first bicycles and Dunlop’s invention of the pneumatic tyre, Dunlop and Ariel began building bicycles together and effectively shared trademarks. While Dunlop went on to concentrate production on tyres, Ariel focussed on cycles moving on to powered vehicles a couple of years later and then cars.

Simon Saunders, Director of Ariel Motor Company, said: “We’re in the early stages of working with Dunlop and the prototypes are fitted with Dunlop’s GP Racer D211 and Qualifier II tyres

“We’re looking forward to working further with Dunlop and supplying Dunlop tyres as original equipment and replacements on the bikes.  The range of tyres that Dunlop offer suits the bespoke nature and different uses of the bike and we’re keen to develop the relationship and partnership with Dunlop on an exclusive basis.”
